Alionouchka

A popular Russian folk tale, Alyonushka narrates the misfortunes of the daughter of an Orthodox priest and his wife, who is left all by herself. After getting rid of a thief who tried to loot the family home, she is threatened by his accomplices, who, mistakenly, want to kill her. Cunningly, the bandits convince the child’s parents to marry her to one of them. Tricking her young husband, who is a bit simple-minded, the girl escapes. A game of hide-and-seek ensues, where Alyonushka is saved by her cunning and the help of a few peasants. She manages to return safe and sound to her parents’ house and she tells them everything. But we haven’t heard the last of those bandits...

Conte populaire russe, Alionouchka narre les mésaventures d’une fille d’un pope et d’une popesse, qui se voit livrer à elle-même. Après avoir éliminé un brigand qui tentait de piller la maison familiale, elle est menacée par les acolytes de celui-ci, qui, trompés, veulent la tuer. Rusant, les brigands convainquent les parents de l’enfant de la marier à l’un d’entre eux. Dupant son jeune mari, un peu benêt, la jeune fille s’échappe. S’ensuit une partie de cache-cache où la ruse, et l’aide de quelques paysans, sauve Alionouchka. Elle parvient à retourner saine et sauve chez ses parents, à qui elle raconte tout. Mais les brigands n’ont pas dit leur dernier mot...
